they dont look good . incongruous even queasely so .

Haha, yet if it was a genetic morph within the species that happened to look the same way as any of these hybrids, people would be tripping over themselves clamoring about how amazing it looks.

The double standard is funny isn't it. Truth to be told...I don't find most morphs attractive. Same goes for most hybrids. And if they are attractive-it is in a different way than a wildtype animal. Hybrids are the same. Poss. color combos often are very interesting and even colorful/oddly patterned. Isn't their some charm to knowing what you whole is at least somewhat representative of the animals in the wild? Yes, I am a bit biased...but it is NOT purely about looks is it, it should be about the animals.

Also, I have seen a ton of ugly hybrids...as well as hybrids that pretty much look like one of the parents minus some very minor trait.(which is very dangerous-as these are pretty tricky to ID if they somehow lose their names).

From what I understand, those who disagree with hybridizing do so because they feel it ruins the specialty of the snakes. In a sense, you're "ruining" what makes the species special by mixing them with other species and the like. So then, why would you feel albinism is okay (for those of you who do)? Albinism does occur rarely in the wild (like hybridization, though hybrids are more rare, I'm sure), but in many species albinism actually causes some unwanted side affects (general overall weakness of immune system, feeding problems, breeding issues, etc). Not to mention it rarely lasts long in nautre, since albino snakes are taking out of the environment as predators can spot them much more easily. But because it's more valuable in most species or it looks nicer, it's supported. I think this argument could also go into color mutations as well. Most ball python morphs can't occur without human intervention, so doesn't that mean that we're disrupting their specialization by changing their coloration? After all, they evolved that color pattern for a reason, right? Couldn't that be seen as infringing on their specialization for camouflage? I know the big difference here is that these color morphs are bred into their own species, but to me, it's not much different because we are changing the snakes from the way they specially evolved whether they're hybrids or just color morphs...

Is my logic wrong?

yea vermin but there are those people who prefer snakes to be "normal" rather then morph colors.
personally all but one of my snakes is normal, but thats because I enjoy the normal patterning on pituophis and I think its beautiful already... However I do very much so appreciate different morphs on snakes.... like that super tiger platinum super expensive snakey morphy thingy that sammaki has in his picture....OMG SUPER SEXY SNAKE!!!!!!! lol

Right-o, I was trying to pick out the individuals that say they don't agree to hybridization, but enjoy color morphs/albinism. I know there are those who don't like any change to the snakes, and that, IMO, seems more consistent. But I could be wrong :/

As a few of you, I prefer "wild type" looking snakes, amongst other herps. Especially with Lampropeltis. Nothing is more beautiful then a high black cross over zonata or some sweet locality triangulum multistrata

There is so much diversity of opinion and gray area on the topic.. Some people love morphs and hybrids and dont own any wild type examples unless they are het for a million things. Then there are those who do morphs only and are not into hybrids, followed by those who keep wild types but are ok with morphs and finally those who are absolute purists and will have nothing otherwise in their collections.....but wait... to blur the lines even further there are the gray areas in between all of the above standpoints.

Because of human nature and how widely likes and dislikes vary there will never even be "sides" to this debate except for on the polar opposites ends taken by those who enjoy arguements for the sake of arguing

hahahaha lolz I've been on a few debate teams, and unless I held a strong feeling about something I always would fervently argue the side that would normally cause more controversy . However that was to make another person angry and upset to the point that they start stumbling upon themselves to catch up. Figured that wouldnt be a good thing to do on a forum like this lol.

And as for opposing thoughts and wide gradient of likes and dislikes....... that will eventually end

Because im going to take over the world BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

And everyone will worship MEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
